Women's Hockey Drop First Game Against the Sabres

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's hockey team faced the Marian University Sabres on Thursday afternoon. Playing at home in the first of a two-game series, the Spartans fell 4-1.

In the first period, UD opened the game up with the first shots of the match with attempts from Madilynn Schiile, Malia Tetreault and Grace Ronan all being saved within the first five minutes. At the halfway mark of the first period, the Sabres scored to go up 1-0.

Going into the third period, the Sabres had made the lead 3-0. With nine minutes played of the third, Dani Denhof won a faceoff in the Sabres' attacking zone, getting the puck to Alexandria Simmons.
