Football Receives Seven A-R-C Postseason Awards

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced their football all-conference postseason awards on Friday. The University of Dubuque football team saw seven players receive all-conference awards, highlighted by  second-team honors from Parker Navitsky and Etwood Williams.

The Spartans also had five other football student-athletes receive honorable mention recognition that included Joey Rhomberg, Alex Rashid, Jacob Garlick, Alex Sogavo, and Brady Buchmann.

In his fifth year of competition, Navitsky (Rochester, Minn. / John Marshall) terrorized opposing quarterbacks, tallying 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. In the Key City Clash, he racked up seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and two key sacks in the Spartans' 14th consecutive victory over the Duhawks.

Williams (Gilbert, Ariz. / Mesa) received second-team honors as a return specialist. Williams returned seven kickoffs for 104 yards and 11 punts for 121 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown against the Buena Vista Beavers.

Rhomberg (Mount Vernon, Iowa / Mount Vernon) followed a stellar freshman campaign with a sophomore season in which he led the conference in passing yards, passing attempts, and average yards per game. Rhomberg finished with 2,763 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions. On the ground, he rushed for 262 yards and five touchdowns. Rhomberg finished with the 14th most passing yards, 3rd most passing attempts, and 6th most passing completions of any passer in Division III.

Rashid (Lodi, Wis. / Lodi) locked down a Spartans secondary that allowed the third-fewest passing yards in the conference in 2025. Being primarily used as a safety this year, Rashid tallied 56 tackles, an interception, and three pass breakups. Rashid forced opponents to work the opposite side of the field from him, as he locked up receivers all season.

Garlick (Montgomery, Ill. / Oswego), also in his fifth year, notched 72 total tackles and six tackles for loss in his final campaign. He added 2.5 sacks, an interception, and three quarterback hurries. Garlick helped solidify a Spartans defense that ranked fourth in the conference in total yards allowed.

Buchmann (Rochester, Minn. / Rochester Century), a first-year player, handled the punting duties all season. He punted 36 times for 1,449 yards for an average of 40.3 yards, the third-highest in the conference. His long of 61 yards helped flip the field on a key drive in the win over Nebraska Wesleyan.

Sogavo (Bolingbrook, Ill. / Bolingbrook) handled the long snapping duties in his first season. On special teams, Sogavo forced a fumble in the game against UW-Platteville.

The Spartans' seven all-conference selections mark the fifth-highest total in the conference this season. Rhomberg, Buchmann, and Sogavo will return for the Spartans for the 2026 campaign as they look to bounce back from a fifth-place finish in the conference.
