SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The University of Dubuque women's hockey team faced St. Catherine in the second of two games on Saturday afternoon. At the end of the third period, the Spartans fell to the Wildcats, 5-0.
Early in the game, UD played solid, fending off shots from the Wildcats while responding with attempts of their own. Natalie Meeder had two shots on goal in the opening period, with a great look hitting off the pipe. Towards the end of the first period, the Wildcats scored twice in a short span to go up 2-0.
Beginning the second period, with 5:06 played, the Spartans got a power play where Lauren Jeffery found a couple of openings but had her shots saved. The pace picked up, and the Wildcats rounded out the scoring with three goals to make it 5-0. The Spartans had five shots on goal in the third period, but were unable to find the breakthrough.
Multiple Spartans contributed on offense, with Natalie Meeder leading the team with six shots. Natalie Post, Madilynn Schiile and Lauren Jeffery each had three shots. Zoe Cupples did well in face-offs, winning five.
On the defense, goalkeeper Emily Skanron had 35 saves for the day. Zoe Cupples, Sophia Hoover, and Malia Tetreault each had two blocks.

The Spartans will remain on the road for their next game against #6 St. Norbert College on Friday, November 1. The game will be in De Pere, Wisconsin, with the match scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Center.
