SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Traveling up North, the University of Dubuque women's hockey team played St. Catherine University Friday night, falling 7-1.
The Wildcats struck first in the opening period, scoring at 12:42. Shortly after, Natalie Meeder got a shot through to force a save from the keeper. St. Catherine went up 2-0 on a power play before the period ended.
The game opened up in the second period with the Wildcats scoring four goals. In the third period, Zoe Cupples made a great play to score a goal. At the end of the match, the Spartans fell 7-1 to the Wildcats.
Natalie Meeder led the Spartans on the night with three shots on goal, with Zoe Cupples putting two on goal, scoring one. Natalie Post contributed, winning seven face-offs.
On the defensive side, Molly Jex made 34 saves in the match. Malia Tetreault was able to get out in front of shooters, recording five blocks on the night.

The Spartans will stay in St. Paul, Minnesota Saturday, November 1, to play St. Catherine in the second of two matches. The puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Drake Arena.
