STORM LAKE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team won the American Rivers Conference regular season title on Tuesday afternoon for the first time since 2014. The Spartans defeated the Buena Vista University Beavers 3-0 to win their second conference title in its 25-year history.
The Spartans' formula was simple, win and accomplish what hasn't been done in 11 years. The Spartans won in dominating fashion to win the conference title, earning the No. 1 seed in the A-R-C Women's Soccer Tournament next week.
Even in terrible weather conditions on Tuesday, the Spartans were able to create offensive opportunities right away with a
Brooke Clark goal four minutes into the game to give the Spartans the early lead. The Spartans would add goals from
Virginia Speltz (28') and
Alyssa Tranchita (42') in the first half to put the game away 3-0 in favor of the Spartans. Tranchita also added two assists, while Speltz added one.
Tranchita continues her threat on the offensive attacking end with seven shots on goal on 11 shot attempts.
Riley Trudeau added four shots on goal, while Clark (3),
Kaelyn Nash (3), and Speltz (2) all had double digit shots on goal.
The Spartans had the shots on goal advantage 19-1 and added 13 corner kicks, while shutting out the Beavers to zero.
Samantha Jurgens picked up her third win in as many games, recording one save in a quiet 90 minutes in goal.
The Spartans finished the regular season 10-1-6 overall and 7-0-1 in conference play.

The 2025 American Rivers Conference Women's Soccer Tournament will start this upcoming Saturday, November 1. The Spartans have earned the No. 1 seed and will be on a bye. The Spartans will open the tournament on Wednesday, November 5 when they host the lowest remaining seed in the semifinal round (yet to be determined) at Oyen Field with a time to be finalized on Wednesday.
