PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team came into Wednesday evening with an unbeaten streak at 3-0-5, but the UW-Platteville Pioneers would score the lone goal Wednesday night to snap the Spartans unbeaten streak.
In the first half
Alyssa Tranchita would get the first scoring opportunity for the Spartans in the 12th minute, but her shot would be saved by the Pioneers goal keeper. The Pioneers had three shots on frame in the opening 45 minutes, but they too could not find the back of the net as both teams went into the half scoreless.
The Pioneers would score the lone goal of the game in the early stages of the 63rd minute in what would be the game winner. The Spartans would have three more chances after the Pioneers went ahead, but shots on goal by
Sarah Thompson,
Amelia Pash, and
Riley Trudeau were unable to get past the Pioneers goal keeper. Trudeau's shot with under five minutes left in the game was the last chance the Spartans had to even the score.
Karissa Cruz was in goal tonight for the eighth time this season. Cruz recorded four saves in the loss.
The Spartans fall to 3-1-5 on the season.

The Spartans will host the Luther College Norse on Saturday, October 4 for homecoming. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. with a UD helicopter delivering the game ball shortly before kickoff.
