DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque placed third in the American Rivers Conference Women's Inaugural Women's Championship held at Loras College in 2025. UD ended the afternoon with five placewinners and one champion.
The Spartans
Shea Reisel won the 117 lbs. weight class and finished the day 5-0 with four tech falls and a fall in 2:35, Reisel is 22-3 overall this season. The Spartans earned three All-American Rivers Conference honorees by their placings in the championships.
Out of the nine conference member institutions, six currently sponsor women's wrestling. A-R-C institutions with women's wrestling include: Buena Vista University, Central College, University of Dubuque, Loras College, Simpson College, and Wartburg College. Five of the six programs are in their second year of competition. Simpson enters the championship in year three of the program. This is a monumental event as all three NCAA divisions approved the addition of women's wrestling as the association's 91st championship sport just one week ago.Â
