DUBUQUE, Iowa – It was the A-R-C opener for the University of Dubuque women's soccer team as they took on the Wartburg College Knights. After a long non-conference schedule to begin the season, the Spartans were finally to get a look at a conference opponent. An early goal by the Knights was all that was needed as the Spartans could not find the equalizer.
In the first half, the flow of the game was on the side of the Spartans as the ball was able to move back and forth between the teams. After stopping numerous attacks, the Spartans tried to clear the ball out of the box and a counter attack by the Knights caught the Spartans off guard and found the back of the net. In the second half, the Spartans had great shot attempts on net.
Bailey Brennan and
Emma Kober both had three shots on the day, with Brennan having all three of her looks on goal, and Kober had two on goal.
Riley Trudeau and
Kaelyn Nash tagged on two shots each as well.
The Spartans fell 1-0 and are now 4-2-3 overall and will start A-R-C play 0-1-0
