AURORA, Ill. - The University of Dubuque women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to five on Saturday after sweeping the Aurora Triangular with wins over the host Aurora (3-1) and Illinois Wesleyan (3-2).
After dropping the opening set to Aurora in the opening game on Saturday, the Spartans won the final three sets to win in four. Every single set was within three points throughout the match.
Delainey Winkel led the way with 22 kills while
Emma Powell added 15. Assisting the attackers was Alexis Kammer and
Ashlyn McGinnis who had 23 and 19 assists respectively.
Taylor Bechen led the back line with 25 digs. A crucial aspect against Aurora was the 22 blocks by the Spartans that helped ensure the win.
The match against Illinois Wesleyan went back and forth as the Spartans took the opening set followed by the third and ultimately the fifth and final set. Powell led the match with 17 kills and
Payton Uptagraft finished in double digit kills with 15. Kammer finished with 26 assists and Bechen recorded 29 digs.
The Spartans are currently on a five game winning streak and sit at 10-5 overall on the season.

The Spartans will host the UD River City Classic next weekend where they will play in three games against great competition. The first game on Friday is set for 5:00 p.m. against UW-Stevens Point.
