PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's volleyball team had their three game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night as (RV) UW-Platteville defeated the Spartans 3-1 (9-25, 22-25, 25-19, 23-25) inside Williams Fieldhouse. 

The Spartans opened the game unable to get going offensively ending the first set with only five kills and nine total points. The Spartans would respond with 13 kills in the second set, but the Pioneers were able to get just a few more points to win the second set to go up 2-0. 

The momentum finally shifted in the third set as the Spartans had their best attacking set in the third with a 25-19 set win. In the fourth set the Spartans had their biggest lead at 15-11, but the Pioneers would go 14-8 to finish the game including the final three points after the game was tied at 22-22. 

Emma Powell finished with a team-high 14 kills while Ashley Glennon finished with 11 as the only two Spartans to reach double figures in kills. As many of the games this season, the assists were nearly split in half as Alexis Kammerer led with 18 and Ashlyn McGinnis had 15. Four Spartans recorded double digit digs in the loss and 16 total blocks. 

The Spartans move to 5-4 on the season.

The Spartans will be back at home as they host a court for the Duhawk Classic this upcoming Friday and Saturday. The Spartans will play two games each day with the first game on Friday starting at 3:00 p.m. The first game for the Spartans on Saturday will be at 12:00 p.m.
