Women's Soccer Edges Lake Forest 4-3

Four Spartans find the back of the net in the victory

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team out shined the Lake Forest College in a offensive first half that featured five total goals and was able to defeat the Foresters 4-3 in their second game of the season.

The Foresters got on the scoreboard very quickly in this one, scoring not even two minutes into the game. The Spartans would answer in the 18th minute as Riley Trudeau scored her second goal of the season to tie the game at one goal a piece. Three minutes later in the 21st minute Bailey Brennan scored all on her own for her first goal of the season to give the Spartans a 2-1 advantage. The Foresters were able to equalize in the 40th minute, but Emma Kober had other plans scoring her third goal in just the second game of the season to help the Spartans lead 3-2 at the half.

Similar to how to opening minutes of the first half went, the Foresters scored 52 seconds into the second half and brought the game to 3-3. Alyssa Tranchita would be the hero for the Spartans notching the game winner in the 57th minute off a Trudeau assist for her first goal of the season.

In goal, Karissa Cruz started the game and played the first half allowing two goals. The Spartans made a switch for the second half and went with Samantha Jurgens who allowed one goal and recorded four saves for the Spartans.

The Spartans were very effective when they were presented with shot on goal opportunities scoring on four of the five chances they had today.

The Spartans improve to 2-0 on the season.
