Dominate Offensive Display in First Half Lifts Spartans Over Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Picking up their second win of the season to get back to .500 tonight was the University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team as they tied a season-high 17 goals in rout to a 17-4 victory of Augustana College (IL) on Wednesday night.

The Spartans wasted no time in the game as Giovanni Silva scored the first three goals of the game in the first seven minutes of play. Sam Todd assisted Silva's third goal and with that assist became the all-time career assists leader in program history with 59 career assists and counting. Todd would then follow up with a goal of his own which would be the first of four goals by the junior.

Augustana then cut the lead in half with their first two goals of the night to cut the Spartans lead to 4-2. Aidan Culligan and Todd added on to the Spartans lead to lead 6-2 after the first quarter. The Spartans blew the game open in the second quarter scoring six straight unanswered goals with Tyler Johnson, Tyler Lyons, and Ryan Doyle getting their first goals of the night along with Lyons and Doyle scoring their first goals of the season. The Spartans would lead by 10 goals the half.
