GENEVA, Ill. - In the final non-conference game of the year, the University of Dubuque women's hockey team traveled to Aurora University on Monday afternoon and fell by a final score of 0-5.
Typically a conference opponent, the Spartans faced Aurora for a third time this season in a non-conference game. Aurora won the first two meetings back on Dec. 1 & 2. The Spartans scored once in each of the first two games against Aurora, but on Monday the Spartans were unable to net a goal.
The Spartans finished with 10 total shots as
Libby Plath led the way with three.
Lauren Jeffery was the only other Spartan to record multiple shots finishing with two. Jeffery had a team-high five blocked shots and
Arwen Sims deflected four.
On faceoffs, the Spartans went 24-56 with
Chloe Byma and
Olivia Hodges taking 50 of the faceoffs. Hodges won 12 faceoffs and Byma won 11.
Natalie Preston got her third start of the season playing all 60 minutes. Preston saved 48 shots on goal with half of them coming in the second period.
The Spartans move to 2-21 overall on the season and 2-12 in conference play.

The Spartans finish up the regular season this weekend when they travel to St. Norbert College. Friday night's game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and Saturday is set for 3:00 p.m.
