CARLINVILLE, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team finished the 2024 calendar year with a 75-70 loss at Blackburn College on Monday afternoon.
After leading by 12 at the half, the Spartans would be outscored 43-26 in the second half to go on to lose by five. The Spartans shot 43.5% from the field in the game, but would struggle from the perimeter, connecting on only two of their 16 attempts. The Spartans also struggled at the free throw, especially in the second half where the Spartans only went 5-13 (38.46%).
Jaylin McCants led all scorers with 30 points (second most this season) and grabbed eight rebounds.
Jacob Williams and
Dylan Hibicke each had nine points off the bench.

"We really struggled shooting the ball even though we were getting good looks around the rim. We also struggled at the foul line and three point line. We have to be better defensively as a group and that starts with having consistent practice habits."
The Spartans fall to 7-4 overall on the season.
