DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's hockey team played host to the 2024 Mississippi Match-Up at ImOn Arena and captured their opener 3-1 over the Milwaukee School of Engineering to advance to Saturday's championship game vs. St. Mary's University at 5:00 p.m.

In the opener, St. Mary's University (6-3 overall) edged out Lake Forest College by a 4-2 final. SMU led early 2-0 before Lake Forest scored twice in the second period to enter the final period knotted at 2-2. The Cardinals would score on a power play and a empty net power play in the final period to advance to Saturday's championship game vs the UD Spartans.

In the night cap, the host Spartans scored three consecutive goals to start the match before allowing a goal late in the first period. Aleah Giddings scored the first goal of the game at 7:10 unassisted. Malia Tetreault added a second Spartans goal off an assist from Madilynn Schiile at 9:43. Gidding added an assist to Pacey Lannet's goal at 13:31 to stretch the UD lead to 3-0. MSOE scored at 16:14 for their only goal. The two teams would play even the rest of the way and held one another out of the net. UD out shot the Red Raiders 36-23 and won 29 faceoffs in the Spartans first victory at home. Savannah Wuitschick played all 60:00 minutes and made 22 saves for the win.

Lake Forest College will play MSOE in the consolation championship scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. faceoff. The UD vs. St. Mary's University in the 2024 Mississippi Match-Up championship game scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. faceoff.
