Fond du Lac, Wis. – The University of Dubuque Spartans wrapped up their two-game series against Marian University on Saturday evening, falling 2-0 on the road. Despite strong defensive play and standout efforts in the face-off circle, UD was unable to overcome Marian's early lead.
The Spartans had early chances to strike, with three power-play opportunities in the first period. However, they managed only one shot on goal during those minutes. Marian capitalized on their own power play at 13:53 in the first, taking a 1-0 lead.
In the second period, Marian extended their lead just over a minute in, making it 2-0. The Spartans responded with increased offensive pressure, firing seven shots on goal. Libby Plath led the charge with two shots in the period, while Savannah Wuitschick remained solid in net, adding 10 saves to her tally.
The Spartans fought hard in the third, earning another power-play opportunity early in the period, but Marian's defense remained steady. UD recorded six additional shots on goal in the final frame, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Savannah Wuitschick closed the night with another 11 saves, finishing with a strong performance between the pipes.
Spartans' Pacey Lannet and Zoe Cupples led the way with 13 wins each in the face-off circle, contributing to UD's impressive 35-28 advantage in face-off victories.

The Spartans will return to action on November 29th as they Host the University of Dubuque Mississippi Collegiate Match-Up and ImOn arean. The Spartans will go up against the Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7:00 p.m. for their first game of the tournament.
