Women's Soccer Rolls Past Kohawks 5-0

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Spartans scored five goals as the University of Dubuque women's soccer team rolled past the Coe College Kohawks for their third straight shutout victory on Wednesday evening.

The Spartans were in control from the opening whistle as Samantha Scodeller scored the opening goal in the third minute of play for her third goal of the season. Alyssa Tranchita has now scored in back-to-back games with a goal in the 28th minute to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead.

The remaining three goals came in the final half as the Spartans scored quicker than they did in the first half as Kaelyn Nash scored an unassisted goal for her second of the year. With her first ever goals as a Spartan, Samara Tanchuck scored twice in nearly a seven minute span to break the game wide open at 5-0. Anastasia Mazzanti assisted Tanchuck's first goal in the 76th minute.

Coming off defensive athlete of the week honors, Karissa Cruz only saw three shots throughout the night and saved a shot in the shutout victory. Jenna Tindall finished the final 12 minutes in goal for the Spartans.

The Spartans dominated the box score in shots 26-3 and corner kicks 7-1 as the Spartans were able to establish themselves offensively.

The Spartans move to 7-2-3 on the year and 2-1 in conference play.
