DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque Spartans welcomed in the nationally ranked #5 Adrian College Bulldogs into ImOn Arena for a two game series this weekend. The Spartans would drop the opening game by a final score of 14-1.
In the first period, Adrian netted three goals as the Spartans trailed 3-0 heading into intermission. To begin the second period the Spartans capitalized on a break away from
Libby Plath as she scored her fourth goal of the season cutting into the deficit. Adrian responded as they scored seven more goals to close out the period. In the final period of play

Gracie Hall,
Olivia Hodges, and
Cassidy Becia each attempted a shot but was fended off by the goalkeeper. Adrian netted four more goals as the Spartans lost 14-1.
Hall led the Spartans in faceoff wins with eight followed by Hodges with six and
Chloe Byma with four. Defensively,
Ava Dedrick blocked four of the 12 blocked shots. Both Spartans goalkeepers,
Savannah Wuitschick and
Natalie Preston saw action tonight. Wuitschick played 30:46 and recorded 31 saves including 23 in the first period. Preston finished with 29 saves in almost 30 minutes of action.

The Spartans will return to the ice tomorrow for game two against Adrian College. Puck drop is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
