APPLETON, WIs. - The University of Dubuque women's hockey looked like they were headed to overtime on Friday night 0-0 until the host Lawrence University Vikings snuck a late power-play goal into the Spartans net with less than two minutes remaining. UD lost 0-1 after competing in a balanced attack. UD finished with 29 shots and the Vikings ended with 34 shots.
Cassidy Becia led the Spartans with eight shots, the duo of
Madilynn Schiile and
Libby Plath finished with six shots each, and
Olivia Hodges had five.
Savannah Wuitschick took the loss in goal after playing 58:48. She tallied 33 saves (5 in the first, 15 in the second period, and 13 in the final period).
The Spartans won 25 faceoffs and lost 39.
Olivia Hodges was 15-22 and
Gracie Hall won eight and lost 14. UD finished with seven shots in power-play opportunities.
UD will continue the weekend series on Saturday with first faceoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
