Women's Hockey Falls to Concordia on Saturday

DUBUQUE, Iowa - After Friday night's game was postponed, the University of Dubuque women's hockey team was finally able to play today against the Concordia University (Wis.) Falcons in only their second home game of the season. The Falcons scored twice in the opening period as the only two goals of the game to defeat the Spartans.

In the opening period the Falcons scored goals four minutes into the game and again at the 11:53 mark of the first period. That would be all the scoring on Saturday as the Spartans shot off 23 shots on goal but would be unable to find the back of the net. The Falcons got off 47 shots on goal as Savannah Wuitschick secured 45 saves in goal for the Spartans. Wuitschick currently leads the nation in saves and was just over her average of 44.57 saves per game.

Cassidy Becia led the Spartans in shots with six including four shots in the first period. The trio of Gracie Hall, Chloe Byma, and Olivia Hodges went a combined 28-49 on faceoffs tonight. Ava Dedrick and Hodges led the Spartans with three blocked shots on the defensive end.

The Spartans move to 2-12 overall and 2-5 in the NCHA.
