LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The University of Dubuque women's volleyball team took home two non-conference wins on Saturday as they defeated Dominican (3-2) and Lake Forest (3-0) on the campus of the Lake Forest College Foresters.
In the Dominican game, the Spartans dominated the opening set 25-14, but then lost a tight second set 23-25. The Spartans would respond in the pivotal third set 25-22 and then lost in OT of the fourth set 27-29. The fifth and final set belonged to the Spartans 15-9 to win over Dominican.
Facing the hosts, the Spartans cruised easily to three straight set wins 25-19, 25-15, and 25-16 over the Lake Forest Foresters.
Leading the Spartans in kills on Saturday was
Ashlee Adler as she recorded 24 kills on the day with 16 of them coming against Dominican.
Emma Powell added 20 kills with 15 against Dominican as well.
Ashlyn McGinnis assisted 38 attacks through two games and
Alexis Kammerer had 21 assists against Dominican.
Payton Uptagraft attacked at a high clip with .458 (13-24) against Dominican and again against Lake Forest (.400, 4-10).
The Spartans now move to 11-4 overall on the season.

The Spartans will start conference play on Wednesday night as they face the Loras College Duhawks on Lillis Court. The game is set for 6:00 p.m.
