Women's Soccer Cruise Past Prairie Fire

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team had their most dominating victory of the season to date as they cruised past the Knox College Prairie Fire as seven different Spartans score tonight in route to a 8-0 victory. The Spartans have now won five games in a row.

The eight goal margin of victory is tied for the 10th largest margin of victory in school history and the Spartans now lead the series with the Prairie Fire 3-1.

Samantha Scodeller led the Spartans with two goals with the first coming in the seventh minute to give the Spartans their first goal of the game and again just after halftime in the 47th minute. Two Spartans scored their first ever goals in their collegiate careers in a Spartan uniform as Olivia Roth scored the second goal of the game and Fantu Andrews scored with less than two minutes to play off a Maddie Remek assist. This would be Remek's first assist of her career.

Alyssa Tranchita, Autumn Huntington, and Emma Kober all scored in the game against the Prairie Fire. Riley Trudeau found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 66th minute of the game.

It was all Spartans in the shots category as they held the ball offensively for what felt like a majority of the game. The Spartans got off 38 total shots with 15 being on target. The Prairie Fire only had one shot attempt and that came in the first five minutes of the game. The Spartans had 12 corner kick opportunities and held the Prairie Fire to zero.

Karissa Cruz picked up the quiet win as she faced one shot all night without a save. Mikayla Brown took over in goal the final 15:47 of the game.

The Spartans move to 5-2 with five victories in a row after starting 0-2.
