Saint Peter, Minn. - After an 0-2 start to the season, the University of Dubuque women's soccer team has now rallied off four straight wins after defeating Gustavus Adolphus College on Sunday by a final score of 4-2.
To open the game, Gustavus would get four shots with two of them saved by goalie
Karissa Cruz in the first eight minutes. The Spartans first shot would come from
Alyssa Tranchita as she put it in the back of the net off a pass from
Samantha Scodeller for a 1-0 Spartans lead. The next Spartans shot would also result in a goal with
Autumn Huntington capitalizing to then give the Spartans a 2-0 lead 15:44 into the game.
The Spartans would add yet another goal just before the half as
Lily Rimrodt found Tranchita for her second goal in the first half. The Spartans led by three goals at the half. In the second half, the Spartans got another goal from
Emma Kober in the 59th minute. Kober scored for the third time this week and already has seven goals on the season. Gustavus would get in the scoring column in the 71st minute and again in the last minute of the game.
Kober and Huntington matched each other with three total shots leading the Spartans in the category. Gustavus had two more shots, but the Spartans were able to have one more shot on goal attempt. The Spartans never attempted a corner kick whereas Gustavus had three.
Cruz played all 90 minutes in goal collecting four saves and allowing two goals.
The Spartans are now 4-2 overall on the season.

The Spartans will return home on Tuesday, September 19 when they take on Knox College on Oyen Field with start time scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Spartans will be looking to extend their win streak to five games.
