Albion Too Much For Men's Lacrosse

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -  In the second and final game of The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse spring break trip, the Spartans fell to the Albion College Britons 20-8 in the rematch of last season's first round NCAA tournament game.

Early on in the game, the Britons got off to a fast start scoring six goals in the first quarter while blanking the Spartans. Not until 2:45 left in the second quarter, the Spartans first got on the board off a goal from Giovanni Silva. In the last minute before half, Ben Farraday tacked on another goal as the Spartans trailed 10-2 heading into the third quarter. Once again the Britions went on a scoring spree, as they netted seven goals in the quarter while the Spartans managed to score once from Aidan Culligan. At the end of the third quarter, the Spartans found themselves down by 15 (18-3). In the last 15 minutes of the game, the Spartans were able to outscore Albion in the fourth with five goals ending in a 20-8 defeat for the Spartans. 

Five different players for the Spartans scored in the game. Ben Farraday, Giovanni Silva, and Aidan Culligan each scored twice while Tyler Johnson and Damon Thompson also found the back of the net. George Smirl was goalie for the most of the game and recorded 12 saves in the loss.

The Spartans will return back to Dubuque, Iowa and prepare for another non-conference road test as they travel to Wisconsin on Wednesday, March 8th as they take on Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW). The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
