Men's Lacrosse With Convincing Win Over Beloit 23-1

DUBUQUE, Iowa - After picking up their first win of the season in their last outing, the University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team would win their second in a row with a convincing 23-1 win over Beloit College out of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The Spartans would see a total of 14 get in the scoring column led by Ben Warren and Sam Todd with three goals apiece. 

From the beginning of the game, the Spartans were able to control nearly every faceoff winning 25-28 throughout the game. Nikolas Wortman was a perfect 15-15 on faceoffs which led to 11 ground balls (team-high). The Spartans would be able to use those won possessions and turn them into offense. The Spartans collected a season high 56 shots and 41 of them on target. The Spartans capitalized on 56.10% (23/41) shots on goal into goals. Todd finished with a game-high six points off three goals and three assists. 

The defense for the Spartans would be equally as stellar as they forced Beloit into 27 turnovers and held them to 8-25 on clears. The Spartans defense only allowed Beloit to have 12 shots the entire 60 minutes. MLC Defensive AOTW, George Smirl (2-1 record) had a quite night in goal giving up Beloit's lone goal and earning the win. Landen Othoudt and Nolan Nagy were in goal in the second half with Nagy grabbing three saves.

The Spartans are now 2-3 overall and will face Carthage College on Sunday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Kenosha, Wisconsin.
