SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico- The University of Dubuque Wrestling Club competed at the 2023 National Collegiate Wrestling Association National Championships held at the Puerto Rico Convention Center on March 9-11 and placed 13th as a team and finished with three place winners. #19-seed Joseph Pineda placed third at 235 lbs., #17-seed Jesus Sanchez placed seventh at 133 lbs., and #14-seed Tanner Higa was seventh at 125 lbs. Other Spartans who competed included: Bryce Radeke (141), #64-seed Brock Radeke (157), #54-seed Cody Sebo (174), and #5-seed Franco Fontela (285). Competitors from 66 teams competed in the 2023 national championships.

Nine NCWA tournaments were held at the end of February as qualifiers and the Spartans competed at the NCWA Great Lakes Conference Championships in Toledo, Ohio. Placewinners for the Spartans were Tanner Higa (125) who placed second, Jesus Sanchez (133) who finished fourth, Brock Radeke (157) was sixth, Joseph Pineda (235) was second, amd Franco Fontela placed fourth to advance to the 2023 NCWA National Championships. Participating teams included: Bellarmine University, Grand Valley State University, University of Akron, University of Dubuque Wrestling Club, Ferris State University, University of Louisville, University of Michigan Wrestling Club, The Ohio State University Wrestling Club, and University of Toledo.
