LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Dubuque men's wrestling team competed in the 2025 Prairie Wolf Dual Triangular on Saturday. The Spartans faced the host Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves in the opening dual and battled from behind to win the match with a fall in the 285 lbs. weight class 26-20. In the second dual, UD Dominated the second dual match of the day, winning 46-6 over Westminster University.
The Spartans #8 ranked
Justin Matson (285 lbs.) made quick work of both opponents with a pair of falls early in the first period.
Colton Weiler (157 lbs.) finished 2-0 with a tech fall vs. NWU and a fall in 1:55 vs. Westminster. The #12 ranked
Kale Roth won a decision over NWU and toward the end of the second match won by a disqualification in the final minute when the Westminster opponent used his head (headbutt) and called for the DQ by the official.
Nic Poston (197 lbs.) grabbed two victories with a major decision 13-1 against NWU and a fall in 4:30 vs. Westminster.
Next week UD will host the UD Sokol Wrestling Showcase and will wrestle Schriener University at 10:00 a.m. and Saint John's University at 11:30 a.m. during Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day and Dubuque Toys for Tots donor day in Stoltz Sports Center.
