LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The University of Dubuque women's hockey returned to the ice after the holiday and trailed by just a goal as they entered the third period. The hosts would find the net of the Spartans five times in the final period to drop the Spartans in a 0-6 loss.
The Spartans allowed a goal at 14:48 of the first period and then the defense tightened up and the Spartans held the hosts scoreless through the end of the period and through the second and finished with 19 blocks.
UD finished with 17 shots highlighted by
Libby Plath who led with six. The Spartans won 28 faceoffs and lost 67.
Olivia Hodges was 11-23,
Gracie Hall was 9-19, and
Chloe Byma 6-21.
Savannah Wuitschick played 51:39 in goal and faced 53 shots and allowed five goals.
Natalie Preston played 8:21 and faced 11 shots and allowed one goal.
UD will continue play on Saturday when they play Trine University in the same arena (Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse) at 12:00 p.m. FYI, the hosts support staff have been hit by positive Covid tests and live stats will not be available for the weekend.
