FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's hockey team trailed by a goal after one period on Friday afternoon. They fell behind 0-3 after two periods, but rallied to scored two goals in the third before falling to the Marian University Sabres 2-6 on the road.
Scoring goals for the Spartans were
Libby Plath and
Madilynn Schiile. Plath's goal was scored just :54 second of the third period assisted by teammates
Chloe Byma and
Madilynn Schiile. Schiile scored at 10:23 of the third unassisted.
The Spartans were 0-5 in power-plays and finished with three shots. UD compiled 16 shots and were 22-62 in faceoffs. Plath led the team with four shots followed by teammates by Byma and Schiile who both finished with three shots in the loss. UD added nine blocks Byma leading the team with three.
Olivia Hodges was 11-29 in faceoffs and
Gracie Hall was 10-27 in faceoffs.
The NCHA Star of the Week,
Savannah Wuitschick played all 60:00 minutes in goal and finished with 45 saves (15 in 1st, 18 in 2nd, and 12 in 3rd period).Â
UD will continue the series on Saturday, Nov. 11 when they face Marian University at 1:00 p.m. in the Blue line Family Ice Center.Â
