Women's Soccer Overpowered by Duhawks

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team continued their conference slate with a road contest against the Loras College Duhawks. The Spartans suffered their third loss of the season as they were defeated 4-1.

Within the first ten minutes of the game, the Spartans attempted two shots with one on goal off the foot of Hannah Husnick but was saved by the Duhawks goalkeeper. The Duhawks were first on the scoreboard with a goal in the ninth minute and then added another goal in the 18th minute as the Spartans trailed 2-0 at the break. Through one half of play the Spartans had three shots compared to the Duhawks 11.

In the second half, the Duhawks extended their lead with another goal. In the 62nd minute the Spartans cut into the deficit with a goal from Emerson Wilson off an assist from Emma Kober. The Duhawks tacked on one more goal in the late minutes as the Spartans lost 4-1. 

On the night the Spartans tallied a total of eight shots. Kaelyn Nash, Bailey Brennan, and Alyssa Tranchita each had two shots. Goalkeeper, Karissa Cruz had a busy night recording six saves in the loss. 

The Spartans are now 7-3-1 and 2-1-1 in A-R-C play.

The Spartans will jump out of conference as they travel to Beloit College next week for a matchup on Wednesday, October 11. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
