DUBUQUE, Iowa - Wednesday night the University of Dubuque Spartans hosted the Coe College Kohawks on Dubuque Soccer Club night at Oyen Field. With a great crowd on hand the Spartans defeated the Kohawks by a score of 3-0.
Early on the Spartans maintained possession and struck first with a goal from
Samantha Scodeller off an assist from
Kailey Tyburski 14 minutes into the game. A few minutes later the Spartans added to their lead with
Alyssa Tranchita's sixth goal of the season from a pass by Scodeller. At the half the Spartans lead 2-0 while out shooting the Kohawks 13 to one.
In the second half, the Spartans defensive unit kept the Kohawks silent limiting Coe to just two shots. In the 54th minute,
Emma Kober extended the Spartan lead to three with her 11th goal of the season, which is second in the conference. A total of 21 Spartans saw action in tonight's game. The Spartans attempted a total of 27 shots from nine different players. Goalkeeper
Karissa Cruz earned her seventh win of the season playing the full 90 minutes and recording two saves.
The Spartans improve to 7-2-1 on the season.
