DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team will be the #4 seed in this year's American Rivers Conference Women's Soccer Tournament after a 4-3-1 conference record. The Spartans fell to the Luther College Norse 3-2 in the regular season finale on Tuesday night at Oyen Field.

The Norse would strike first in the 12th minute of play to grab the quick lead before the Norse would assist the Spartans with an own goal to even the game at 1-1. Just over halfway in the first half, the Norse regained the one goal lead. The Spartans would battle to work to get back to a draw and Alyssa Tranchita was the only Spartan to score tonight in the 79th minute off an assist from Emma Kober. Just when it felt like the game was going to end in a draw, the Norse got another goal late in the final five minutes to win the last game of the regular season. 

Shots were fairly close throughout the night as the Spartans finished with 15 shots (9 on goal) compared to 18 shots (6 on goal) for the Norse. Karissa Cruz played all 90 minutes in goal as she collected three saves on the night. Tranchita led the Spartans with three shots on goal and Bailey Brennan added two shots on goal. 

The Spartans conclude the regular season with an overall record of 10-5-1 and 4-3-1 in conference play. There was a three-way tie for third place in the conference, but due to tonight's game Luther earned the #3 seed and the Spartans tiebreaker over Central came down to goal differential. The Spartans had a +3 differential and the Dutch were even at +1 differential.

The #4 seed Spartans will now host the #5 seed Central College Dutch on Saturday, October 28 at a time to be determined on Oyen Field. The winner of the opening round will face #1 seed Loras College on Wednesday, November 1.
