DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team came into tonight riding high as they got their first win of the year by defeating Monmouth College on Wednesday night at Oyen Field before taking on Gustavus Adolphus College who came into tonight's contest with a perfect 3-0 record. The Spartans would grab the early lead in the first half before Gustavus Adolphus scored in the second half to end the match in a 1-1 draw.
It did not take long for the Spartans to find some offensive fire as
Emma Kober was able score in the 3rd minute off a great assist from
Riley Trudeau to give the Spartans the early lead. The Spartans would take the 1-0 lead into halftime and would continue for the opening 16 minutes of the second half. Gustavus would finally be able to push the ball into their offensive end and was able to tie the score at the 71:08 mark of the game. The Spartans had a few more chances to erase the tie in the last few minutes, but there would be no answer as the Spartans tie for the third time this season.
With the only goal for the Spartans, Kober would end her night with four of her six shots on goal.
Bailey Brennan,
Baylee Vincent, and
Emily Gross would each take two shots in the game. As a team, the Spartans finished the night with 15 shots outshooting Gustavus Adolphus by four shots. There would only be three corner kick attempts throughout the game and they all belonged to the Spartans.
