GALESBURG, Ill. – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team made a weekday trip to Knox College where they took to the pitch against the Prairie Fire in non-conference action. The Spartans knocked in two goals in the first half as they shutout the host Prairie Fire 2-0 to remain unbeaten at 2-0-3.
The Spartans would play even with the Prairie Fire through the first 35 minutes of play before
Maya Ganser netted her first goal of the season in the 36
th minute to claim the 1-0 lead. The Spartans would not take long to double their lead as
Riley Trudeau would score in the 42
nd minute to lead 2-0 at intermission. Both defenses would shutout the opposing offenses in the second half to allow the Spartans to come away with the shutout victory.
Trudeau was dominate tonight against the Prairie Fire as she had nearly half the Spartans shots and shots on goal. Trudeau ended the night with four shots on goal on six total shots.
Elisa Langer earned the victory tonight in goal playing 49:50.
Karissa Chalus would play the additional 40:10 of the game and record three saves. The Spartans were granted seven corner kicks compared to just one for the Prairie Fire.
