DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque Spartans hosted a non-conference matchup against the Monmouth College Fighting Scots at Oyen Field Wednesday evening. After tying the first two games of the season, the Spartans were eager to get in the win column. Wednesday night would prove to be a great offensive game as the Spartans would win a shutout against the Fighting Scots by a final of 4-0.
The Spartans set the tone early and scored within the first three minutes of the game as
Emma Kober found the back of the net off an assist from
Kailey Tyburski. Later on in the half, senior
Brooke Brodzinski left her mark on this game by netting two goals in a matter of minutes. Brooke scored her first goal in the 31st minute off an assist from
Bailey Brennan. Brodzinski would then follow up in the 33rd minute with another goal, giving the Spartans the lead at the half 3-0. Unfortunately, Brodzinski's great night would end short due to injury. The Spartans ended the half with 20 shots, while holding Monmouth to one shot.
Halfway through the second period, the Spartans continued on their offensive side of the ball as a corner kick off the foot of
Samantha Scodeller found senior,
Baylee Vincent in the 63rd minute for her first goal of the season. In the 4-0 victory, the Spartans would tally 35 shots and eight corner kicks while Monmouth was limited to just three shots and zero corner kicks.

The Spartans have a quick turnaround as they are back at Oyen Field on Friday, September 9 when they welcome Gustavus Adolphus College for a match set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
