NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The University of Dubuque volleyball team jumped out to a quick start on Friday night and held off the rally from the St.Olaf College Oles in the first winning 25-23. The hosts Oles would capture the next three sets to win the match 3-1 over the Spartans by set scores 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22.
A trio of Spartans finished the evening in double digit kills.
Emma Powell led the team with 15 kills as teammates
Darby Hawtrey and
Ashlee Adler would each compile 12 kills.
Kaylynn Murray found the open attacker for 24 assists. Powell also led the defense with 18 digs trailed closely by
Ashlee Adler who had 15 digs.
Alexis Adkins and
Payton Uptagraft would both end the night with six block assists.
The Spartans continue their weekend on Saturday when they compete at the Gustavus Adolphus College Triangular in St. Peter, Minn.with Bethel University.UD will not return to Stoltz Sports Center in Dubuque until Oct. 21, during homecoming week, when they host the Central College Dutch at 6:00 p.m.
