Grinnell, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team opened up the 2022 season on the road where they faced in-state, Grinnell College on Thursday night. Looking to start the fresh season with a victory, the Spartans would shoot in double figures, but were unable to find the back of the net. Grinnell could not find any offensive momentum either as the first game of the season ends in a tie 0-0. Non-conference rules only allow for a full 90-minute game with no overtime.
Led by
Brooke Brodzinski,
Baylee Vincent, and
Bailey Brennan, the Spartans took the field for the first time in their non-conference opener where the Spartans shot 11 times and were aggressive on the defensive end allowing only five shots. Brodzinski and
Samantha Scodeller led the Spartans with two shots on goal each. Seven Spartans played the full 90 minute contest and midfielder,
Alyssa Tranchita gave 41 minutes off the bench to lead the Spartans. Freshman goalkeeper,
Elisa Langer got her first college start tonight where she allowed zero goals and recorded three saves.
