LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team was on the road yet again for a Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) match-up against the Lake Forest College Foresters on Saturday afternoon in a contest between two teams sitting at 1-0 in conference play. A second half surge by the Spartans would catapult them to a 16-4 victory over the Foresters. The Spartans now are at a .500 record for the first time this season sitting at 6-6 and in first place in the MLC at 2-0.
After an opening first quarter where each team scored two goals, the Spartans used a three goal differential in the second to take a 6-3 lead at the intermission. What looked like to be a great game entering the second half, the Spartans tightened up their defense and managed to score on extra man opportunities to pull away and take another conference road victory back home to Dubuque.
Giovanni Silva was on the attack today as he scored six goals on eight shots and added one assist to his stellar day.
Gavin Hughes was another Spartan who had multiple goals in the game with three and he also had two assists.
Sam Todd and
Zach Schmitt each contributed three assists. As a team the Spartans were almost perfect on their clears with 17-19 and won 18 of the 21 face offs. The Spartans capitalized on 6-8 when having extra man opportunities.

The men's lacrosse team will play yet another game on the road next Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wis. as they take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE).
