Spartans Win Conference Opener In Dominating Fashion

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team opened up Midwest Lacrosse Conference play with a dominating performance against the North Central University (MN) Rams with a 29-0 road victory. In a stellar offensive performance 16 Spartans managed to score in the game and this is the second game in a row where the Spartans have shut out their opponent. 

The Spartans managed to score eight goals in the opening quarter and then followed up the second quarter with four goals to take a 12-0 lead at the half. The Spartans then scored 14 goals in the third which is the most scored by the Spartans in a single quarter this year. The Spartans 29-0 victory is the largest this year. 

Jacob Collar led the Spartans in scoring with four goals and Damon Thompson and Gavin Hughes each had three goals. Nikolas Wortman collected five ground balls and won 12-16 face offs. The Spartans had 41 shots on goal in 53 shots and won 23 face offs. The Spartans couldn't capitalize on extra man opportunities as they went 0-5. 

The Spartans now move to 5-6 overall and are on a three game winning streak. In their three game winning streak, the Spartans are now outscoring their opponents 63-6 including two shutouts.
