MADISON, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team continued their stretch of road games to open the 2022 season with a game against the Edgewood College Eagles. The Spartans were able to lead for a majority of the night as they were able to secure their second straight win after an 82-71 victory on the road over the Eagles.
The Spartans entered the night at 1-1 and now move to 2-1 on the young season. The Spartans were the Eagles season opener as they fall to 0-1.
The Eagles would have an early lead through the opening five minutes, but the Spartans were able to maintain the lead throughout the rest of the game.
Brock Simon posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Simon went to the free throw line quite often knocking down 10-12 (83.3%).
Sam Kilburg played 33 minutes scoring 10 points, six assists, and four boards.
The Spartans shot 24-52 (46.2%) from the field and assisted on 10 of the 24 field goals. The Spartans went to the free throw line a lot as they went 29-35 (82.9%). The Spartans made 21 more free throws than the Eagles attempted in the game. The Spartans out rebounded the opponent 37-26 and won the fast break points battle 14-4. The Eagles dominated the Spartans in the paint 34-50.
