Box Score DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team opened the American Rivers Conference play on Tuesday and ended the night with a 68-60 win over the Wartburg College Knights.
The Spartans jumped out to a 36-28 halftime lead and maintained that edge the final 20 minutes as both squads finished with 32 points each in the second half. UD scored 23 points off Knights miscues and scored 42 points in the paint. The Spartans bench dominated the host Knights 26-5. UD led the game for 32:43 and pushed the lead by as much as 16 points in the first half. UD held the advantage in rebounding 47-37.
Brock Simon led the Spartans with 16 points off 5-9 shooting from the field. He finished with a double-double after grabbing 12 rebounds.
Dylan Anderson sparked the bench with 14 points along with
Keegan Zimmerman who had 12 points.
Bryce Prochaska started at center and ended the evening with 10 points and six rebounds.
Sam Kilburg pumped in nine points after connecting on 3-7 attempts from the three point area and he added eight assists in the road victory.
UD made 26-72 shot attempts from the field (36.1%), a chilly 5-27 from beyond the arc (18.5%), and 11-17 at the free throw line (64.7%).
The Spartans (3-1 overall) have notched three consecutive wins and will face the Monmouth College Fighting Scots on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 4:00 p.m. in Monmouth, Illinois before facing the Blackburn College Beavers on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Carlinville, Ill., before hosting the Buena Vista University Beavers in Stoltz Sports Center on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
