Women's Soccer Draws With #6 Wartburg 2-2

DUBUQUE, Iowa - It was Senior Day today at Oyen Field as the University of Dubuque women's soccer team hosted the nationally ranked Wartburg College Knights. An even first half would be followed up by a 2-0 lead for the Spartans, but the ranked Knights fought back to draw even with the Spartans 2-2.

The Knights came into the matchup with the Spartans with an undefeated record of 11-0-1. The Spartans would hold their own in the first half as they were the aggressor both offensively and defensively. Neither team would find a score through the first 45 minutes. The Spartans continued to be the aggressor into the second half and at the 57th minute mark, Samantha Scodeller would find Alyssa Tranchita for the first score of the game to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead. The Knights would be in new territory as they have seldom trailed in a game this season. The Spartans would then capitalize four minutes later as senior, Emma Kober drilled a shot passed the Knights goalie to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead. What seemed like an upset brewing at Oyen Field, the two goal lead by the Spartans would vanish 16 minutes later as the Knights scored twice within 27 seconds. Neither team would score the rest of the way as the Spartans tie for the seventh time this season and third time in conference play.

Kober's three shots would be on target and Trudeau would get three shots with two being on goal. Tranchita would be the only other Spartan with a shot as her shot ended up being the first goal of the game. The Knights were able to outshoot the Spartans, but accuracy was in favor of the Spartans. Elisa Langer played the entire 90 minutes in goal and had an active night saving four shots along with allowing the two goals.

The Spartans now move to 4-1-7 overall and 1-0-3 in conference play.
