DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team concluded the 2022 regular season on Tuesday night as they took down the Buena Vista University Beavers in dominating fashion 5-0 to earn the #4 seed and host the first round of the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m on Oyen Field.
On a cold night, the Spartans need a win to be able to host the first round of the A-R-C Tournament and they did just that as
Emma Kober got the scoring started in the 7th minute off a pass from
Virginia Speltz.
Riley Trudeau would add a goal shortly after with the assist credited to
Lydia Smith. The Spartans would take the comfortable 2-0 halftime lead before tacking on three more goals in the final 45 minutes from
Mya Wesling,
Baylee Vincent, and
Alyssa Tranchita.
Elisa Langer had a quiet night in goal recording one save in 61 minutes.
Karissa Chalus finished the final 28 minutes in goal not seeing a shot.Â
The Spartans totaled 28 shots (17 on goal) compared to only two shots (one on goal) by the Beavers. The Spartan defense held their own tonight as they didn't allow a corner kick and kept the ball on their offensive half for a majority of the night. The Spartans had nine corner kicks in the game.Â
