DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball opened their American Rivers Conference season across town on Wednesday night and lost in straight sets to the Duhawks 22-25, 20-25, and 17-25.
The Spartans struggled in hitting and finished with .035 hitting percentage in 144 attempts.
Darby Hawtrey led with nine kills in 36 attacks.
Emma Powell and
Ashlee Adler would both end the evening with six kills each.
Kate Messino earned 15 set assists and
Kaylynn Murray had 10.
Emma Powell led both sides with four service aces. Defensively
Katie Wright compiled 25 defensive digs to lead the Spartans.
UD and Loras will co-host the weekend tournament which begins on Friday, Sept. 17 at 5:00 p.m. in Stoltz Sports Center.
