Volleyball Sweeps on Senior Day

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team swept past the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves in three straight sets on Senior Day 25-14, 25-17, 25-14.

The Spartans held the Prairiewolves to a .087 hitting percentage, attacked their kill attempts, and ended the afternoon with a season high 11 blocks in the game. A trio of Spartans finished with three solo blocks each: Cleary Isabel, Darby Hawtrey, and Julie May.

UD compiled 34 kills spread around six Spartans and would hit a season high in kill percentage with .275. Hawtrey led with nine kills, Cleary and Emma Powell would both add seven kills each. Kate Messino had 14 set assists and Katie Wright and Mary Kate Wille grabbed 12 defensive digs each.

UD improved to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in American Rivers Conference. The Spartans will host the Coe College Kohawks on Wednesday, March 10 with varsity at 7:30 p.m.
