DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team started slow on Wednesday night dropping the first two sets to #12-ranked Coe College Kohawks by scores 21-25 and 20-25. UD would rally and capture the third set 25-21 before dominating the fourth set 25-14. Unfortunately, the top ranked Kohawks would take the match after sweeping through the fifth and deciding set 15-2.
The Spartans played 11players and finished with 41 kills and a hitting percentage of .152 as the Kohawks never substituted in the match and collected 60 kills and a hitting percentage of .126.
Darby Hawtrey led with 11 kills, 10 digs, and two aces and three solo blocks.
Emma Powell and
Julie May would each have seven kills. May led at the net with five blocks.
Kaylynn Murray gathered 24 set assists and eight digs.
Katie Wright led with 29 defensive digs.
UD (2-4 overall, 2-3 in A-R-C) will travel to play at Central College on March 13 at 2 p.m. The Spartans next home game is Wednesday, March 17 when they will host the Luther College Norse at 7:30 p.m.
