Roethler Sets Shutout Record in Tie at Simpson

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team shifted American Rivers Conference play on Saturday afternoon, where them and the Simpson Storm would play to a 0-0 draw.

90 minutes was not enough time for the two conference foes on Saturday afternoon as they would head into overtime knotted at 0-0. In the 94th minute, Meghan Moorman lofted in a corner kick and would find Carolena Lund's head, but the header was blocked. In the second overtime, the Spartans would outshoot the Storm 3-1, however as they did in the previous 100 minutes, the shots continued to be blocked and sail high and wide and the game would come to a close in a 0-0 draw.

Brooke Brodzinski tried willing the Spartans to a goal, firing off a team-high six shots, three of which went on goal but had no luck finding the back of the net. The only other Spartan with multiple shot attempts was Moorman with two.

Victoria Roethler would play all 110 minutes in the net, recording seven saves and earning her second straight shutout and the 22nd of her career to give her the most career shutouts in program history.

Up next, the Spartans will host Wartburg on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
