DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team played their first home game Nov. 2, 2019 on Wednesday night, coming away with a dominating 6-0 win over Concordia Chicago after a five goal first half.
The first half scoring frenzy got underway in the eighth minute when
Mary Herra dished a pass to
Brooke Brodzinski, who fired a shot into the left side of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Meghan Moorman would jump in on the scoring 11:59 into the game with help from a
Molly Schiltz pass to build a 2-0 lead before the 12-minute mark.
The back and forth scoring between Brodzinski and Moorman continued just 90 seconds later when Moorman would get her second goal of the first half to match Brodzinksi's two.
Natalie Dienstbach capped the first half scoring spree in the 30
th minute with a goal of her own to build a 5-0 lead before halftime.
Brianna Muzi would find
Isabelle Robinson for a 84
th minute goal for the Spartans sixth goal to put the cherry on top of the blowout victory.
The Spartan back end was dominant on Wednesday night, limiting the Cougars to just one shot for the entire contest and none over the final 88 minutes. Meanwhile, the UD offense would fire off 18 shots of their own, 10 of which went on goal.
The Spartans begin American Rivers Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Simpson College for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
