Men's Basketball Cruise to 94-70 Win Over Norse on Senior Day

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The #8-ranked University of Dubuque men's basketball team moved to 10-0 overall and 6-0 in American Rivers Conference action on Saturday after a dominating 94-70 victory over the Luther College Norse. The Spartans never trailed in the contest and would lead by 30 points late in the second half.

After sitting out since Feb. 13, UD did not miss a step and welcomed the return of some reserves back into the line-up. Seniors Peter Ragen (18 pts.) and Justin Smith (9 pts.) would combine for 27 points on senior day. Levi Scheuermann returned to the court and finished with 18 points and four rebounds. Keegen Zimmerman finished the afternoon with 13 points, 10 rebounds, as teammate Sam Kilburg added 10 points, three assists and two steals in his outing. Carter Stevens played his first minutes of the 2021 season and had four points.

UD sank 36-66 shots from the field (54.5%), 10-23 from beyond the three point arc (43.5%), and sank 12-15 free throw attempts (80.0%). Luther's bench would outscore the Spartans 38-33, but UD dominated the paint 36-28 and tallied 11 points off the Norse turnovers.

UD will travel to Storm Lake, Iowa on Monday, March 1 at 6 p.m. when they make-up a postponed contest from earlier this season. UD remains a game ahead of the Beavers who are 5-1 in the A-R-C. The Beavers last game was on Feb. 10 when they won a 72-71 thriller at Coe in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. BV's lone loss was to the Loras Duhawks on Feb. 1 by a score of 73-89. UD's final regular season game is scheduled for March 6 at Nebraska Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.
