DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque trailed by as many as 21 points on Wednesday night before making an 11 point run late in the fourth to slice the lead to 10 points when time ran out in the final score 70-80 to the visiting UW-Stout Blue Devils.
Balanced scoring for the Blue Devils with five players in double digit scoring while the Spartans were led by the duo of
Tabria Thomas who led all scorers with 24 points and
Karsen Kershner who came off the bench to add 11 points. UD committed 20 turnovers and the Blue Devils scored 16 points off the mistakes. UW-Stout turned the ball over 18 times and the Spartans scored 20 points. UD made 27-59 shot attempts (45.8%), but were chilly from the long ball where they made 2-17 three point attempts (11.8%).
Kathleen Mathias ended the night with eight assists and two steals.
Karsen Kershner led in rebounding with seven and UD was out rebounded in the loss 29-27.
The Spartans return to American Rivers Conference play over the weekend when they travel to face the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves on Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb.
